Are you breaking promises made to your guests?

Sound Familiar?

Pesky Problem

You’re breaking the promises you make in your photos.

How long has it been since you looked at the photos in your listing? If you’re racking your brain trying to recall a faraway date, keep reading! This bit of hosting advice is for you. As a host, photographing your space and uploading photos to your Airbnb listing is one of the earliest steps in the process. Once that step is done, it’s easy to let months, even years, slip by without revisiting them.

But for your guests, each photo you’ve posted, however long ago, is a promise. It says, this is what the space will look like when you arrive. Your pictures are fresh in each guest’s mind. Many guests will literally have looked at them again on the day they check in. And if the current reality of your Airbnb deviates from the pictures, guests can feel misled.

Let's Try This

Bite-Size Solution

Reference your own photos as you prepare your space.

Course correction here is surprisingly straightforward. Consider this brilliant strategy inspired by a Big Heart Hosting community member out of Virginia: simply use your listing’s photos as your reference guide when you’re preparing your Airbnb for your next guests. As you prep each room, just swipe through your photo reel to make sure the space matches the expectations you’ve set in your listing.

The truth is, you’ll never know exactly why these next guests booked your place. You just know that there was something in your listing that hooked them. By using your own listing as the goal post for preparing the space, you’ll maximize your chances of keeping the promises you’ve made to them.

5 Minutes

Here's Your First Step

Scroll through your photos and look for outdated pictures.

First things first. Grab your phone and scroll through your own Airbnb listing. Are there any outdated photos that jump out? If so, get them out of there and replace them with updated photos.

And on the off chance you’re thinking: Well sure, these are outdated. But it doesn’t matter. The space is so much better than this now, none of my guests will be disappointed when they walk in! Then drop everything and go get new photos of your updated space, pronto! You may not have disappointed guests, but you’ve definitely been leaving good money on the table.
